Remote Connection
This function connects to a robot controller from a remote location via the Internet, allowing operation and status checks.
This allows various tasks to be performed without traveling to the site, improving the efficiency of maintenance, operation, and development and enabling a rapid response.
Restrictions
The following restrictions apply when using this function.
- RC+ API is not available.
- Compact Vision CV2 and part feeders available through remote connection are limited to devices on the same network as the robot controller being accessed remotely.
- Direct remote connection to a standalone Compact Vision CV2 or part feeder is not supported. To connect to Compact Vision CV2 or a part feeder, a remote controller connection must be active.
- Access to Compact Vision CV2 and part feeders follows the access permissions for the remote controller. Individual access permissions for each Compact Vision CV2 or part feeder are not supported.
Restrictions for Compact Vision CV2 and Parts Feeders
The following restrictions apply to Compact Vision CV2 and part feeders available during a remote controller connection.
| Target Device | Function/Operation | Availability During Remote Connection | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact Vision CV2 | Direct connection to standalone Compact Vision CV2 | Unavailable | To connect to Compact Vision CV2, a remote controller connection must be active. |
| Compact Vision CV2 | Connection to Compact Vision CV2 on a different network from the remote controller | Unavailable | Only Compact Vision CV2 devices on the same network as the remote controller are available through remote connection. |
| Compact Vision CV2 | Use of PC Vision PV1 at the remote site | Unavailable | PC Vision PV1 at the remote site cannot be used through remote connection. PC Vision PV1 on the connecting PC can be used normally. |
| Compact Vision CV2 | Compact Vision CV2 firmware update | Unavailable | Updating Compact Vision CV2 firmware during remote connection is not supported. |
| Compact Vision CV2 | Camera search | Restricted | You can connect to Compact Vision CV2 on the same network as the remote controller and search for cameras that can be found from that Compact Vision CV2. However, PC Vision PV1 cameras at the remote site cannot be searched for or used. |
| Compact Vision CV2 | Viewing camera images | Restricted | You can view camera images from supported Compact Vision CV2 devices. However, PC Vision PV1 cameras at the remote site cannot be used. |
| Compact Vision CV2 | Adding and deleting cameras | Restricted | You can add and delete cameras for Compact Vision CV2 devices on the same network as the remote controller. |
| Compact Vision CV2 | PC Vision PV1 on the connecting PC | Available | PC Vision PV1 on the connecting PC can be used normally even when Compact Vision CV2 is connected remotely. |
| Compact Vision CV2 | Virtual camera | Available | Can be used simultaneously with a remotely connected Compact Vision CV2. |
| Part feeder | Direct connection to standalone part feeder | Unavailable | To connect to a part feeder, a remote controller connection must be active. |
| Part feeder | Connection to a part feeder on a different network from the remote controller | Unavailable | Only part feeders on the same network as the remote controller are available through remote connection. |
| Part feeder | Part feeder firmware update | Unavailable | During remote connection, part feeder firmware cannot be updated from RC+. |
Safety Precautions
To ensure the safety of operators and equipment, observe the following precautions.
1. Means of Confirming the Safeguarded Space
Before remote operation, provide a means to confirm that no one is inside the safeguarded space.
Also provide means to prevent entry into the safeguarded space and access to the robot and peripheral equipment.
2. On-Site Emergency Stop System
During remote operation, ensure a means of communication with on-site personnel.
Also establish a system that allows safety measures, such as an emergency stop, to be implemented immediately on site in the event of an abnormality.
Perform remote operations only when communication with on-site personnel and an emergency stop system are in place.
3. Checks Before Remote Trial Operation and Operation Check
After programs or settings are changed, the robot may move unexpectedly.
Before remote trial operation or an operation check, use the provided means to confirm that no one is inside the safeguarded space.
4. Checks Before Executing an Operation
Notify on-site personnel of the operation and confirm that they have evacuated to a safe location.
In addition, use the provided means to confirm that no one is inside the safeguarded space before executing the operation.
5. Checking Communication Status
Depending on the communication status, screen updates and operation commands may be delayed.
Check the communication status displayed on the screen and operate while taking the effects of communication delays into account.
WARNING
Executing an operation before confirming that the safeguarded space is unoccupied or that on-site personnel have evacuated may result in contact with a person or collision with peripheral equipment.
This may result in death or serious injury due to crushing, impact, or flying objects.
